When I first began using NetSuite I had no idea about all of the different products available. I assumed that there was a base package and possibly a few variations to that such as a bronze, silver, gold type of setup. I was so very wrong and I’m glad that I was. There are so many different things that you can do with NetSuite commerce products. One of those products is a perfect fit for businesses who don’t necessarily need a fully fledged out website with all of the bells and whistles but do need a simple customizable customer portal. If that is your business, you need to take a closer look at SuiteCommerce My Account.

 

What is SuiteCommerce My Account? Simply put, it’s an online, self-service customer portal that can be accessed by your customers or clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This customer portal will allow your customers to take care of things within their account such as view and/or update their address book, manage payment methods on file, view order or transaction history, repeat purchases, pay invoices and manage subscriptions. All of this can be done online by the customer and avoid the need to contact your staff to do so. This is an enormous marketing tool yet I’ve found that it is something truly underserved. What am I talking about? I’m talking about the value of having a simple and productive experience online without the need to pick up the phone or log on to chat to take care or view information in an account. Customers value that type of convenience and making simple functions available to your customers adds to their overall experience with your company and this can increase customer retention.

 

Now, while I believe that SuiteCommerce My Account is a wonderful product, I’d like to point out again, that it does not offer your customers a shopping or checkout experience, nor does it support multi-language. If you find that your business needs to offer a shopping experience and checkout please take a look at products like SuiteCommerce or SuiteCommerce Advanced. While SuiteCommerce My Account is a customer portal, you can still customize it to fit the look and feel of your company brand. SCMA allows you to manage this via SMT, Site Management Tools, a feature that allows you to perform several website management tasks, including managing content, changing the overall page design and layout without the need of knowing how to develop or write code. This is managed using the user interface on the website with easy to understand features like drag and drop options as well as the ability to edit or remove existing content. This feature makes maintaining website content easier for developers or NetSuite users who would like to maintain their own sites.
